The Best of Spain at European Tour Destinations
The PGA European Tour is one of the most exciting events in the golfing calendar, and is closely associated with some of the most spectacular courses in the world. European Tour Destinations rank highly among the top tournament destinations in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia, and some of the most impressive include the world class Spanish courses at Finca Cortesin and PGA Catalunya resort.
Luxury Spanish Golfing Destinations
With a warm climate, beautiful and
varied landscapes and high-quality courses, it’s no wonder that Spain is the
world’s most popular destination for British golfers. Take a trip to sunny
Marbella or visit breath-taking Barcelona to enjoy two of the best courses the
country has to offer.
Finca Cortesin Hotel, Marbella
Set in the rolling hills of Southern
Spain between Marbella and Sotogrande, the resort of Finca Cortesin is truly one of the most beautiful golf destinations in Europe. 532
acres of magnificent golfing turf are overlooked by the Casares Mountains.
There are also spectacular views to be admired of the Mediterranean Ocean.
Designed by American architect Cabell
Robinson, the-state-of-the-art 18-hole course provides a great challenge for
the avid golfer and an attractive and stimulating layout. Extensive practice
facilities allow golfers to warm up before they take to the tee. If this wasn’t
enough, in 2017, all putting greens here were upgraded with an environmentally
friendly form of Bermuda grass. Now, players can putt with a clear conscience !
The resort is also home to an
excellent spa offering bespoke treatments by French beauty brand Boilogique
Recherche. The Finca Cortesin Hotel has stylish and elegant suites, superb restaurants
and attentive service all round. This is certainly a fitting destination for
your perfect golf holiday.
PGA Catalunya Resort, Barcelona
PGA Catalunya Resort is a worthy regular for European Tour tournaments. The Stadium Course is a favourite amongst professional golfers, presenting a considerable challenge for even the most skilled players. Strategically placed bunkers, imposing trees and winding lakes are unforgiving on the scorecard, but all contribute to a naturally stunning and memorable experience.
The Tour Course is shorter (and
slightly less difficult than its counterpart) but no less enjoyable. The clever
design from Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles that features frequent water hazards ensures
that the course is still pleasantly testing.
The resort is home to a range of
luxury villas, townhouses, apartments and hotels. The Hotel Camiral, located in the heart of the destination, provides some of the best
accommodation available – its modern design is integrated superbly into the
surrounding natural environment. The location is situated just 15km from the
city of Girona, so is perfect for visitors who are keen to explore the beaches
on the Costa Brava.
There’s no doubt Spain is home to many
beautiful settings that make for a fantastic golf holiday, and these are
definitely two of the best.
