D - The Dyke Hole (411yds Par4) is the 2nd Hole on the Old Course. It was named after the 'Dyke' which was the old wall that forms a boundary between the hotel and the 17th Fairway 'Cartgate'
E- Eden Course The 4th Course at St Andrews was established by acclaimed course architeHarry S Colt who made the most of the area's natural assets and partially buried field boundary walls to create a course of organic beauty. The course has been updated under direction of Donald Steel in 1989.
F- Feathers Golf was originally played with wooden balls until the 'featherie' ball was invented in the early 17th Century. The 'featherie' was made by boiling goose feathers and stuffing them in a cowhide bag. These balls revolutionised the game with their superior flight characteristics and remained the standard ball for over 200 years.
