San Roque Golf Club
As you may already know, the New Course opened on the 11th of May. During the lockdown period they have been closed, they have been working on the New Course preparing it to the highest possible standard for the reopening. They had an unexpected chance to do a lot of tining and top dressing to all of the greens tees and fairways and this is starting to show now with the condition and overall grass cover we have on the new at present.
They also took the opportunity to tine the greens one more time just to make sure they have the best possible greens when this lockdown has ended.
The work doesn’t stop with the tining. They have also been busy installing new paths at the 1st tee so you can connect between the 18th green and the caddy master easier especially in wet weather. Also they have invested some time in clearing ditches and streams on the 10th.
Also they have been creating more mulch areas around the course such as the entrance close to the caddy master.
On the New course they have been continuing to record data from all of their new equipment that we have purchased over the last months. This month we would like to introduce the PARRYMETER; very few of these are used in the world of golf at present on a regular basis; they are mainly brought in by agronomists when they are doing course inspections before tournaments or when doing an overall reporton a golf course.
Back on the Old course.
The work is still on going and as the situation changes, things are starting to move at pace again. Last week the Old course to prepare the areas for the capping of the sand and the seeding and sprigging of the greens tees and fairways.
Last month the lake on the side of the new 2nd green before their workers reformed it; this month it has slightly changed and is nearly ready for the lake liner. It’s difficult to see dimensions but it is at least double the size it used to be.
