Puerto Rico’s first golf course was built at the beginning of the 20th century on the grounds of El Morro Fort –a 9-hole course with sand greens– the first to be established within a walled-city.
Passion for golf goes back to the 1950s, when Laurance Rockefeller built a luxury resort in Dorado and hired Robert Trent Jones to design its fabled East Course. The biggest stars of the era came to play in the island and Puerto Rico fell in love with golf.
Puerto Rico offers 21 world class golf courses with amazing vistas and perfect playing weather year round. The pros have taken notice and for the last 7 years the island has hosted the PR Open, the only official PGA event in the Caribbean.
