USA Fly Drive with Hertz
California Coastal Road Trip
A Golfing Experience visits the West Coast USA
This was my second visit to the USA recently and it is fair to say that Destination USA is definately open for Golf travellers ! This was also one of the smoothest car rentals I have ever experienced.
On arrival in LA Airport we left the terminal and walked straight to the Hertz Car Rental transfer bus pick up area and put my hand up as a bus was coming and it stopped right in front of me ! The transfer was smooth and about 20minutes with some traffic as to be expected in leaving the terminal area.
We arrived at the Hertz rental centre and was greeted by a electronic wall of names of everyone hiring a car that day ! We found our name and the bay where the car was located in.
As we had recently joined the Hertz Gold Card we thought it would be necessary to register our card but it was not necessary on this occasion.
A quick pit stop in the services on site with toilets, drinks
& snacks and we were on our way!
Taking my time to exit there was a driving licence check out we noticed several (gas) petrol stations nearby.
Our first day was just a short trip to Santa Monica to refresh after the flight so I set the Herts Neverlost Satnav and set off.
The car was a standard saloon in good order and clean which had plenty of room for golf clubs and luggage. I felt that I didn’t stand out like a tourist which was good.
The following day we drove to San Diego along the coast road stopping at several golf courses. The intersections are interesting and the Hertz Neverlost Satnat really helped and would recommend this to our customers in future. The only place it could not find was Trump LA golf course and that is because Donald Trump created a new road that was not on the system Donald Trump Drive !!!
Just a word of warning on new built roads - When we went to Greater Palm Springs there were 2 right turns onto the motorway which it was trying to get me to turn left down these were obviously the old ways to enter the motorway.
Finally, filling up the petrol (gas) was great fun!
First of all there was no sign indicating it was a petrol or diesel car. We have found out that ALL hire cars are petrol
but it’s not always clear. Secondly, you have to pre pay for your Petrol in the shop
or at the pump and not all petrol stations take UK Credit Cards.
However, this was a problem free trip and I'm sure that with our partner in Hertz USA and the NeverLost Satnav you will aswell.
