Golf in Kent
The county of Kent’s rich tradition and history of golf dates back to over a century ago.
The ‘Garden of England’ is home to over 100 courses which boast magnificent views of the county’s picturesque landscape and orchards whilst its coastal courses offer dramatic, panoramic seascapes over the English Channel and the celebrated white chalk cliffs of Kent.
Though probably best known for its east coast trail of some of the UK’s premier championship links, Kent also offers an array of parkland and downland masterpieces designed by some of the most revered golf course architects, such as James Braid and Harry Colt, whilst also harbouring some delightful hidden gems.
Testament to the quality of its courses, Kent has over the years hosted 17 Open Championships, the first in 1894 at Royal St George’s, marking the first time that the Major had been played outside Scotland. Recognised as one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments, The Open has since returned to Royal St George’s 13 times (most recently in 2011) whilst Royal Cinque Ports staged the global event in 1909 and 1920 and nearby Prince’s hosted it in 1932. Numerous other major amateur and professional tournaments have been hosted by courses around the county.
Natural clusters of courses can be found around Kent’s main towns, all set against a backdrop of rich and varied culture, buildings of historic interest, bustling seaside towns and magnificent, inspiring gardens.
Added to this, a broad spectrum of accommodation, gastronomic restaurants, a dry and temperate climate, close proximity to London and easy access from overseas have all helped to establish Kent as one of the England’s premier golfing destinations.

Since 2008 , A Golfing Experience has seen an increase in golf requests from British and overseas golfers for golf breaks to the County of Kent.
For over 25years we have sent golfers through this historic county across the channel to France and now perhaps not unsurprizingly with the great quality available and the restraints on time we are seeing many more regular customers looking to stay & play along the south coast and even more exciting players from Northern France & Belgium visiting our shores.
