Spain: Number One Destination for Golfing Holidays

A dedicated golf holiday to Spain is one of the best places to
practice your game, with perfect weather, superb courses and luxury
accommodation.

Here at A Golfing Experience, enquiries about a golf holiday to Spain are hands-down the
most frequent from our clients looking to plan a dedicated golfing break – and the reasons
why are fairly obvious. Along with the very appealing weather, the quality of the courses and
accommodation are hard to beat anywhere else in Europe.

If you haven’t yet considered a golf holiday to Spain for your next break, allow us to tempt
you.

Superb Championship Courses

According to an expert report published in 2017, there are nearly 350 golf courses
throughout the country. While, just like anywhere else, not all are created equal, among
them are some of the most respected championship courses in Europe, if not the world.

One of the best known is Valderrama, which lays claim to being the first European venue to
ever host the prestigious Ryder Cup (in 1997). Even before that legendary honour the
course was a local favourite, regularly hosting the Volvo Masters.

Some of the country’s other notable courses include (but are definitely not limited to):
PGA Catalunya
Montecastillo
Golf Costa Adeje
Abama
La Galiana

There are many, many more, so no matter what part of the country you choose to stay you’ll
never be far from a superb course. Try one, try two, or challenge yourself to a retirement
pact to try them all!

Fabulous Resorts

If you’re planning a holiday specifically to up your game, where you stay is going to be of
huge importance as well. There’s no doubt that Spain delivers on this as well and, whether
your flavour is Alicante, the Costa Brava, Costa del Sol, Costa de la Luz, Costa Daurada,
Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Mallorca, Tenerife, Valencia, or anywhere else for that matter,
there’s a plethora of 5-star and 4-star luxury resorts to make your home away from home.

You can choose from authentic, secluded hideaways in the mountains, idyllic beachfront
resorts with views to the horizon, or even ones that offer both, like the fabulous Melia
Hacienda del Conde , on Tenerife. The choice, as they say, is yours… (but don’t worry,
because we can help!)

Wonderful Weather

Simply because of its diverse landscape, there are numerous different climates in Spain. On
the whole, though, if you pick your destination well (particularly the coastal areas) the lovely
sunny weather for which it is renowned extends into the winter period as well. In fact, places
like the Costa Blanca and the Canaries are positively sublime in winter, especially for
anyone planning a dedicated golf holiday.

So there you have it: Spain is, and as far as we’re concerned, always will be one of the very
best places for golfers. If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of playing on one of the country’s
championship courses, make this your year to say ‘olé in one!’
