A tour to remember at the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational
This week's upcoming World Golf
Championships-FedEx St Jude Invitational is one of the most anticipated
tournaments on the PGA TOUR circuit. It promises an exciting four days
of action-packed golfing in Memphis, Tennessee, with some big names
attending this year’s event (25-28 July) starting immediately after a fantastic Open !
A Tournament to Remember
The
roll call of past winners includes Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama,
Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods (just to name the most
recent), and this year promises to be just as exciting, with 50 of the
world’s best fighting it out at the prestigious TPC Southwind private
golf club. If you’re lucky enough to be going, here’s how to make the
most of it.
Top Tip: Don’t worry if you aren’t going to make it to the tournament this year, because we can make it happen for you in 2020.
Grab a Bite
One thing’s for sure: you’re not going to go hungry at this event ! If you can tear yourself away from the action on the greens, there are various points around the course where you can chow down in style.
If
you’ve got a taste for some hearty Memphis BBQ fare, head to the Pit,
where you’ll be able to get your fill of meaty deliciousness. The Hog
Wild BBQ is a local favourite, so get there early to beat the lunchtime
rush.If that’s not your flavour, 901 Boulevard is home to a range of
food trucks serving up dishes like tacos, shrimp and wings, along with a
bar for all your alcoholic and soft drink needs.
The Best of the Action
Top spots include hole 5 (in front of the FedEx building), hole 9 (the hardest on the course) and hole 14, which offers the best viewing on the course from its natural amphitheatre setting.
Several
of the holes (9,12,14 and 16) have been upgraded with extra covered
seating, and the addition of the Ultra Deck gives you the opportunity to
get a fantastic view of the warm-up and practice area.
