The Algarve:
a popular golfing destination
Located at the southern end of Portugal, protected by mountains to the north and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, the Algarve is undoubtedly the country’s most touristy region.
With its red and ochre lands, its arid landscapes, the Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal. Reefs and white sand form real coves lined with picturesque white houses with small Moorish-style chimneys.
The Algarve enjoys a Mediterranean climate, meaning a very pleasant climate throughout the year.
A golf holiday in the Algarve to discover exceptional courses
The Algarve, renowned for its beautiful beaches and diverse landscapes, is also one of the favorite destinations for golfers. Indeed, golf courses with exceptional layouts, mostly designed by renowned international architects, have flourished over the past 20 years. The Algarve is Europe’s most popular golf destination. With a mild climate from November to March, this region offers an incredible choice of magnificent courses within a 30 km radius. The Algarve will charm you with its still largely unspoiled environment, its stunning beaches, the warm welcome of its inhabitants, and high-quality accommodation. A very comprehensive destination and a must-visit for golf enthusiasts!
Golf being a story of passion and skill level, it seems difficult to compare courses, especially as it’s the variety that adds to the region’s charm. Vilamoura is the Algarve town with the most concentration of golf (6 different courses), including the famous Dom Pedro Old Course, Dom Pedro Victoria, and Pestana Vila Sol (27 holes). Slightly further west, two resort golf complexes also contribute to the Algarve’s reputation: Vale Do Lobo Resort, Golf Oceanico Victoria, and Pestana Vila Sol (27 holes). Additionally, slightly further west, two resort golf complexes also contribute to the Algarve’s reputation: Vale Do Lobo Resort with the Vale Do Lobo Ocean and Vale Do Lobo Royal courses, and Quinta Do Lago Resort with Quinta Do Lago South and Quinta Do Lago North courses.
