The 'Nicklaus trail' provides one of the best places to play Golf in Spain, six Golf Courses within a 30km radius designed by Jack Nicklaus provide a varied and interesting challenge for Golfers of all standards.
Mar Menor itself is a par 72 that winds through the native grasses, flowering shrubs and palm trees and with the addition of a lake accuracy becomes important making this a good and fair challenge for any golfer playing Golf in Spain.
La Torre is relatively short measuring just under 6000 yards off the back tees but requires skill and precision to navigate the sculpted bunkers and lakes before hitting approach shots into some of the well guarded and island greens. This course requires a well thought out round and provides an interesting test when playing Golf in Spain.
Saurines is a desert course where the undulating fairways run through the sand dunes. At just under 6500 yards this not a particularly long course for the bigger hitters but will require every shot in the bag to secure a good card.
Hacienda Riquelme may feel like the easiest of the courses on the Nicklaus trail from the tee, with wider fairways making it easier to get the ball in play. Winding it's way through the surrounding Olive groves, flower meadows and lakes, the course requires skill to navigate playing approach shots into tiered and contoured greens.
El Valle is a picturesque course set in desert surroundings against the backdrop of the Mountains. It is testament to the design and the quality of the course that it has recently hosted European Tour Qualifying School as well as the Spanish Senior Open. Making use of it's surroundings the course itself features rocky outcrops and plenty of bunkers, so strategic play will be rewarded.
Alhama is the signature course of the Nicklaus trail and at just over 7500 from the back tees, can also provide a challenge for the longer hitter. Emphasis is not only on length, the course is heavily protected with water on 7 of the holes and no less than 116 bunkers.
Just a few minutes away from the beautiful beaches of Murcia, take advantage of the great local climate and explore some of the pleasures of the Mediterranean culture.
