Introduction

Established in 1989, the Caen Garcelles Golf Course expanded to 18 holes in 2001, with nine new holes designed by Yves Bureau. The course’s layout includes six holes woven through the woods, offering a refreshing contrast between the front and back nine. The front nine features wide, long fairways, enhanced by natural vegetation that adds character to the course. In contrast, the back nine are shorter yet highly technical, providing a diverse and engaging golfing experience. This variety allows players to balance power and technique, with the 7th hole standing out as a challenging Par 5 of 578 meters (632 yards).

The greens at Garcelles are often elevated, adding to the course’s complexity. Yves Bureau’s redesign includes several water hazards and wooded areas that create strategic traps. Notably, four long and narrow Par 4s (the 12th, 14th, 16th, and 18th) and the demanding Par 5s make for a challenging yet enjoyable round of golf. The course, with a Par of 70 and a slope rating of 125 from the back tees, caters to players of all levels. Its manageable length of 5,716 meters (6,232 yards) ensures it is neither too physically demanding nor tiring. Additionally, the superb practice facilities, including a 30-lane driving range, a six-hole compact course, a practice bunker, and a putting green, make Garcelles an ideal starting point for many golfers. The club also offers a Pro-shop, a covered driving range, a pitch and putt facility, a bar, and a snack area.
