The new Benamor Golf Course, designed by Sir Henry Cotton, emerged in an area of the Algarve once devoid of golf facilities. Originally envisioned around an ancient church, the clubhouse now stands adjacent to the restored church ruins, with the estate’s manor house nearby. Opened officially in 2000 after revisions by Howard Swan and Raymond Jones, the course offers undulating terrain with views of mountains and sea, featuring carob, olive, and fig trees. The layout challenges golfers with progressively tougher holes, balanced by wide greens that hold the ball well.
