Founded in 1910, as Netherland’soldest and most prestigious course, Kennemer Golf Club has pretty much set a benchmark for everyone else to follow – and they could certainly do worse than try to live up to it. Home to the Dutch Open no less than 23 times, it has a charming old-school ambience that makes it apleasure to experience.
If you want to recreate the feeling of the Dutch Open, the championship route comprised all holes of the A, three of the B and six of the C.
Get Your Golf On
With an impressive 27 holes tochallenge your game, the three courses of Kennemer offer players a varied gamethat, while it may seem predictable at times, requires a level of technical skillto keep you on your toes. Its location in the lovely Dutch seaside town ofZandvoort ensures a diverse terrain, set amongst the striking surrounds of coastaldunes.
Divided into the A, B and C courses(aka Van Hengel, Pennink and Colt), each set of nine offers its own particularpleasures and challenges. It’s classic links golfing at its best, though, andthe gently undulating terrain, dotted with pine trees and clumps of gorse feelsa million miles from anywhere.
The course has stayed true to Harry Colt’soriginal vision, with the addition of the extra nine holes. While there are anumber of standout holes (stay on your toes at the 9th andsemi-blind 10th!), it is Colt’s own personal favourite, the 15th,which remains arguably the most impressive, with picturesque play across thevalley and a tricky challenge at the top of a steep dune.
