One of America’s best-kept golf secrets, Michigan, shines as a top golf destination. Over the past
three decades Northern Michigan has grown to become one of America’s premier summer golf

destinations. No were else in the country can you find so many world class resort destinations, with

LochenHeath Golf Club rests on a scenic bluff overlooking East Grand Traverse Bay on the
northwestern coast of the Lower Peninsula and was once a cherry orchard owned and operated for
over 75 years by the Maitland family. This course opened to great fanfare as a residential golf
course development, centered by the award-winning 7,239 yard course designed by acclaimed
Florida architect Steve Smyers.

The Heather at Boyne Highlands is part of the BOYNE Golf properties in northern Michigan, and the 2019 Golf Course of the Year by the NGCOA.

The BOYNE Golf story began in the mid-50s when ski industry pioneer, Everett Kircher, developed a nine hole course to attract summer business and retain staff at Boyne Mountain Resort. With the vision of taking golf to a new level when he developed Boyne Highlands in 1963, Kircher hired the No. 1 course designer of
the time, Robert Trent Jones Sr., to design the regions first nationally acclaimed golf course and The Heather opened for play in 1966.

The course has played host to three Michigan Amateur Championships, including the 100th Michigan Amateur in 2011, AJGA Championships (9), the Michigan PGA State Pro-Am (32) and The Celebrity Tour. The Heather continues to receive praise and recognition year after year, with Golf Digest ranking it “Best in State,” among “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses,” and “Top 50 Courses for Women.” BOYNE Golf is a collection of ten courses at three resorts (Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain, and Inn at Bay Harbor) located within 15 miles of Petoskey, MI. Course in America. The Smith Signature course combines the rustic Northern Michigan landscape
with the unique design features of Irish courses overseas. The “Threetops” Par 3 Course features
fun and rugged holes that range from 135 to 216 yards with a 145-foot vertical drop on No. 3.
