Mar Menor Golf Course
Although the hotel is an attraction itself, it's the Mar Menor golf course that really makes
catches our attention. Set in against the beautiful mountain backdrop on the site of an old
citrus farm, Mar Menor has been designed with excellence in mind. Created by according to
the highest standards of Nicklaus Design, players have the choice of six different 18-hole
courses which means that even the most demanding players can be satisfied. Covering
around 59 hectares, this course isn’t for the fainthearted.
The greens of the front nine, which are a par 37 with extensive tees, are well protected by
bunkers and lakes, however, it’s the third hole you’ll want to watch out for. Well-known as
the toughest hole, this par four challenges players with two fairway bunkers, a large lake, as
well as a greenside bunker just short of the green.
The back nine are par 35 with wide fairways allow those with big strokes to hit hard. Those
who hate water obstacles will find these holes particularly troublesome as theirs an
impressive lake around 12, 14, and 15. The par four 13th hole, however, is probably the
most memorable. Drivers will need to avoid the bunkers on the right, left, and centre of the
fairway, while the green is also surrounded by water.
