Tuscany Tour June 2022
Tuscany is a superb golf destination with many courses peppered across the region. Whether you are looking for rolling hills or challenging terrain, Tuscany’s mild weather and stunning panoramic views make it the ideal location for golf. Many resorts are with single courses so car hire can make the trip that extra special.
The very first modern golf course was established here by the British community in Florence in 1889, a few kilometers north of the city. Since then Tuscany has transformed into a veritable golfer’s paradise, with a wide variety of golf courses in every part of the region. Tuscany is timeless thanks to its art, history, culture, cuisine and also infinitely varied landscape that makes it home to so many treasures, including golf courses!
Here are a few you’ll find nestled in some of the most wonderful landscapes from the coast to the mountains, making it as much an adventure into nature as a great place to golf. A Golfing Experience Destination Team took a 7 day fly drive route around some of the best resorts and courses in Tuscany this June (2022)
After arriving in Florence with Vueling Airlines we hired a fantastic FIAT 500 to take us north to the Mugello Region. After a simple 1 hour drive we arrived at Poggio dei Medici Golf Coast former host of the the LET Italian Open ( Samantha Head won here in 1999) Although the hotel on site is still closed there are some great borgo 's and hotels nearby with some fantastic cusine on offer. The course is in great condition.
Next stop was the amazing Toscana Resort Castelfalfi in Montalbano Region. After a spectacular drive through rolling hills you arrive at a village style luxury resort that has an amazing 27 hole golf complex.
Then we headed to the coast and the relatively unknown Maremma Region. Hear there is a great combination of new and old courses along the coast. Food is a great combination of Fish & Meat and some fine local wines. Definately a region to look out in future to stop over betwen Rome & Pisa. Unfortunately, there is a drought in the region so some courses are off colour but hopefully this will be rectified by the Sept-Nov golf period.
Also close by, right on the coast is the fabulous Argentario Resort. A very modern building set in lush landscape this resort is a true beauty for golfers. The PGA National of Italy Golf course and Acedemy has everything covered from lessons to hosting golf events. With its own private beach and close to a working fishing port for nightlife and great seafood.
On our return to Florence we also stopped off at Terme di Saturnia Resort. Arguably one of the finest spa's in Europe and superb golf course on site. Great way to relax in the private pool at a constant 37 degrees after your round.
Ther are other courses en route that we can add to these pacakages but hope this gives you a good idea of what is achievable on your next golf experience to Tuscany, Italy.
