Introducing Abama’s New Golf Clinic
When we start to talk golf breaks, Spain is pretty hard to beat in terms of its offerings. In fact, there are so many excellent resorts all over the country it can be a bit of a problem choosing where to go. But if 2019 is the year you’re determined to finally take up the game and whip your handicap into semi-pro territory, may we suggest you consider Tenerife.
All
of us here at A Golfing Experience are as focused on the game as our clients
who come to us to help them organise their golf breaks. Spain has a long
association with the sport and many of the industry heavyweights regard it as
one of the best places in Europe to play and train. That’s why we were excited
to learn about a new weekly clinic that’s been established at the fabulous
Abama course, designed by Dave Thomas; it has a reputation as being the best on
Tenerife and one of the best in the country. So, for you absolute beginners:
pro status might be a little way off, but we reckon this clinic is a pretty good
place to start.
The Abama Academy
The Ritz-Carlton Abama Resort is among the finest on the island and the luxury facilities (which include seven swimming pools and ten restaurants) are the perfect complement to the golf opportunities provided to keen players.
The course itself encompasses magnificent views and over 6,200 metres of terrain – but for beginners, the prestigious golf academy is yet another reason to love it. You can book in for one-on-one lessons with the resident pros for around € 80 per hour (or cheaper for two or more), and there are also longer courses and onsite tournaments. No matter what your ability or what you want to achieve, the academy will be able to oblige.
The Doctor is In
In January this year, the academy
added another fantastic service: its new weekly clinics. Running every Tuesday
under the tutelage of the very qualified Sebastian Miller, they provide the
perfect introduction for newbies. Even if you’ve never picked up a putter or
swung a six iron in your life, after this information-packed and intense 50
minutes you’ll be starting to feel right at home on the greens.
With a friendly and practical
approach, the clinics aim to furnish even the most nervous new player with a
set of basic skills and techniques (and more than a few pro tips) to prepare
them to take on the game. All equipment is provided, so it’s a great
opportunity for your non-playing partner or kids to get in on a bit of the
action as well.
If
you’ve always had a secret yearning to get into the game, we think Abama could
be the place for you, especially if you’re in the market for dedicated golf
breaks. Spain is never a bad idea, no matter what the reason, but if you’re
serious about giving the best sport in the world a go, we say why not try it on
Tenerife?
Tempted by the idea of trying our golf breaks? Spain isn’t the only destination we specialise in, so get in touch and find out what we can organise for you in Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus and France as well. Once you try one, you’ll be hooked for life!
