The late Seve Ballesteros, architect of Royal Obidos, described the golf course as a “great and wonderful place”, measuring 7,100 yards from the tips this layout will test even the most talented golfers. However, like any good resort course a number of tee boxes afford a variety of skill levels the opportunity to enjoy the course.
The state of the art clubhouse features a restaurant, spike bar and overlooks the magnificent vista of no less than 9 of the 18 holes. The relaxing terrace is a great spot to cool off after a round with a beer and take in the sights of the golf course and the Atlantic Ocean, especially at sunset.
The course is a stern test from the start with the first being a challenging dogleg right which sets you up for an exciting stretch of holes to come, overlooking the Lagoa de Óbidos, which include the signature fifth hole. The second nine lies in the central and southern section of the development, and navigate their between an ecosystem of lakes and streams.
